Detached Power
Inspired by Hegel's 'Lord-bondsman dialectic,' this project explores the power dynamic between clothing and people. For the artist, clothing is a direct demonstration of power, yet when displayed on a mannequin, it is often reduced to a consumable good.
Just as the lord's existence becomes dependent on the recognition of his bondsman, human beings also need to confirm their state of being through clothing. When human body is no longer the master of clothing, the once-objectified clothing and mannequin become empowered and display a more intricate relationship with people.
